Organic Farming in Agriculture is the art and science of cultivating the soil, growing crops and raising livestock. It includes the preparation of plant and animal products for people to use and their distribution to markets. Agriculture provides most of the world’s food and fabrics. Agriculture is of great importance since it helps to sustain lives by providing the food we need to survive. There are several types of farming, this includes Subsistence farming in Kenya, commercial farming in Kenya, organic livestock farming in Kenya, zero grazing in Kenya, shifting cultivation among others. The main concern in this content is the general concept of organic farming. Organic farming is an agricultural system that uses ecologically based pest controls and biological fertilizers derived largely from animal and plant wastes and nitrogen-fixing cover crops. Modern organic farming was developed as a response to the environmental harm caused by the use of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers in conventional agriculture, and it has numerous ecological benefits. Biozone supports organic farming in Kenya both in agriculture and animal husbandry by supplying natural organic manure and natural organic animal farm supplements(see below)
Organic farming is a natural agricultural system of farming used in production of both organic livestock, organic feeds and organic fertilizer in crops which do not in any way encourage or involve the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) or even antibiotics in order to keep the crop and the soil in a healthy condition always. Biozone organic fertilizers and organic enzymes help by contributing to Sustainable development Goals (SDGs) 2030 and beyond.
This kind of green or natural farming practice has so many advantages such as,
As a result of rising health complications since GMOs were allowed in Kenya, most people are seeking solutions in organic farming especially in the sector of organic exports since no chemical is involved in the whole process right from soil preparation to pest control, harvest and storage. Benefits of organic farming in Kenya is what most people seek for when starting organic farming. These benefits are counterbalanced by higher food costs for consumers and generally lower yields.
Black gold is an organic fertilizer that consists of extracts from hypnus and functional silica (naturally occurring). It is an effective soil enhancer and a growth stimulant that promotes nutrient uptake by the roots to the entire plant, contains all the micro-nutrients that are beneficial to the plant, the elements present are Nitrogen, potassium, phosphorous, zinc, magnesium iron calcium, boron. It is 100% residue free product. it is recommended for all the Agricultural and horticultural crops
Water lock is a combination of organic extracts from gel and silica, activated charcoal and hydrogel,it is a special formulation used to hold water for longer period in a crop especially during droughty seasons. good for all the agri and horticultural crops.
Higrow is a foliar fertilizer that is enriched with boron, nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium whose active ingredients are sea weed, ashwagandha, tulsi and aloe vera, it induces timely flowering and fruiting in all agricultural and horticultural crops. It is recommended foe leaves flowers, stem and fruits of all the plants.
Common livestock types are chicken, cattle, sheep, duck, goats, pigs, deer, horses, and elk
All these livestock just like humans also got an immune system to take care of, they get sick and as a result the owner must in one way or another spend his money, time and resources to bring situations to normalcy. Livestock should be fed with natural/organic products to make it stronger and healthy and as a result, quality waste that can be used to generate biogas for cooking and lighting and also quality organic manure to be used in the farm.
In the case of ruminants, whose digestion take place at night when the cattle is at rest, micro-organisms play a major role to aid digestion and absorbability of nutrients in the body, the farmer therefore when looking for an organic feed must consider the idea of presence of beneficial micro organisms to help the ruminant absorb most of the nutrients in the food they consume.
